June 20, 2017 (Los Angeles, CA): Singer-songwriter Joe Altier (aka Just Joe) will be releasing his Chris Cornell tribute EP Black Hole Sun on July 7, 2017. The EP includes his renditions of three classic Cornell tunes, one each from Soundgarden, Audioslave and from his solo career. Cover art was done by Billy White.
All proceeds from the sales of this EP will be going to the Two Brothers’ Lights Inc in Syracuse, NY, where they work towards raising awareness of mental illness and eliminating stigmas surrounding suicide.
Just Joe commented on the EP:
When Chris passed away it hit me hard, as it did a LOT of people. We have lost a lot of musicians over the years but this one just seemed a little more tragic. So after I posted my cover of Black Hole Sun and saw the response I got, I knew I had to do something. So with that being said, ALL OF THE PROCEEDS generated from CD sales, downloads and streaming will be donated to the Two Brothers’ Light, Inc. http://twobrotherslight.org/
right here in Syracuse. It is a local organization that was formed to help raise awareness and erase the stigmas surrounding suicide and mental illness.
Altier is the former vocalist of Syracuse based hard rock band Brand New Sin, who appeared on the band’s three albums and one EP from 2002 until 2008. The band recorded the theme song “Crank It Up” for WWE Wrestler, The Big Show in 2006 for WWE Wreckless Intent, as well as their song “My World” was featured on UFC Fighter Chuck Liddell’s the Ultimate Iceman DVD. Coincidentally, Brand New Sin has previously opened for Cornell live..
