LLNN and WOVOKA released their split EP Marks/Traces, on June 16th, courtesy of Pelagic
Records. LLNN, formed in Copenhagen in 2014, united with WOVOKA, another sludge metal band,
based out of Los Angeles to create Marks/Traces. These two bands have created what is soon to be the epitome of
top-shelf experimental music.
Marks/Traces is a dark, ambience-driven EP, meant not to be listened to, but truly experienced.
This release is unlike any kind of musical hybrid (I’ve) ever heard. Songs such as “Nostromo Falls” and “The Guardian” are primarily keyboard driven with a sci-fi tone, backed by heavy distorted guitar. With a pinch of black metal guitar backing styles and tone, guitarists repeatedly manifest the darkest atmosphere imaginable. LLNN and WOVOKA truly create apocalyptic imagery in their music, matching the genre image they strive for, including the album artwork. This space-esque EP is sure to induce a dream-like state on the listener, derived from sound alone. These two extremely creative groups are bound to hook anyone looking for more experimental
or concept-driven albums.
Marks/Traces will lead you into dreamland in all the best ways; it is an experience you will not want to miss out on. For lovers of music that is not merely meant to be heard, but felt and appreciated, you’ll want to grab this EP. We’ve conveniently placed the link below, so click it, listen, and enjoy.
