Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine is making news and making waves – but not in a good way. But hey, bad publicity is still publicity, right?

Mustaine is making headlines because he’s “sure” he will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. He’s also stating that the Grammy that Megadeth recently took home – after twelve nominations in the last twenty six years – would look a whole lot better with just his name on it. Team player much, Dave?

This isn’t the first time that Dave has shown his dickish side. The guy believes that because he was in Metallica for 11 whole months (before being let go for drug problems, alcohol issues, and clashing with everyone in the band, but I guess who’s paying attention to the minor details), he should have been inducted into the  Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Metallica.  To be fair,  he is credited on Metallica’s Kill Em All and Ride the Lightning (neither of which he actually recorded with Metallica) and he did help co-write many of the songs that helped launch Metallica into stardom – but then he was gone, only reuniting with the band when asked to play with them on their 30th anniversary tour at the Fillmore.

He was invited to the induction ceremony, his response?  Oh sorry bros, I’m in Europe – later stating that he didn’t want to sit in the audience and not be involved while the other guys were recognized. Really? But you’ll openly state that you feel you’re in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by proxy (i.e. via Metallica)? How does that work exactly?

So which is it, Dave? Are you in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or not?  Are you happy with the fact that Megadeth finally received a Grammy? Or do you think you’re such the shit that the Grammy shouldn’t read Megadeth, but Dave Mustaine? Frankly, you should be happy with every ounce of recognition. I understand the desire and drive to do better and be better – but in that process, don’t be a dick about it. Congratulate your band, as they helped you get to where you are. Don’t be salty over the past – you never even recorded an album (demo yes, but not an album) with Metallica. And for the love of all things holy – check yourself before you wreck yourself.
